Professor Adel Ahmed

Professor Dr. Adel Ahmed is Professor of Accounting, Ethical and Sustainable Finance at Amity University Dubai and a member of the Research Center of Excellence for Sustainability. He is Head of the Sustainable Finance Workgroup at the UAE Universities Climate Network (UCN) and a Principal Fellow of the Society of Entrepreneurial Leaders (PFEL), National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education (NCEE), UK. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK, a Lifetime Fellow of the International Society for Development and Sustainability (FISDS), Japan, and a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA Australia).

With over 30 years of international academic and executive leadership experience across the UK and the Middle East, Prof. Ahmed has held senior positions including Academic President, Vice President, Dean, and Head of Department. His research and consultancy focus on sustainable finance, ethical and Islamic finance, ESG, higher education transformation, entrepreneurial universities, employability, and societal impact. He has published extensively in leading international journals and regularly delivers keynote speeches, executive workshops, and policy presentations on sustainability, innovation, and the future of higher education.

Prof. Ahmed serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of international journals, is an active peer reviewer for leading academic publishers, and has acted as an external examiner and academic advisor for universities in the UK, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He is a member of several international professional bodies, including the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), the European Accounting Association (EAA), the Academy of International Business (AIB), the International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER), the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning (ITOL), the eAssessment Association, and ASET – The Work Based and Placement Learning Association. His current work focuses on reimagining universities as entrepreneurial, impact-driven institutions that create value for learners, industry, communities, and society while contributing to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
