Transforming Organisations and Leadership

Our Entrepreneurial University Leaders programme will add value to your existing leadership strengths, boosting your confidence to develop creative and innovative solutions, lead organisational change and expand your network of peers to share the challenges. You will be encouraged to reflect on your personal leadership approach and explore the benefits of embracing a more entrepreneurial leadership style to contribute to the achievement of your university’s strategic objectives.

During the programme you will explore how you can create and contribute to the entrepreneurial university, develop your entrepreneurial leadership style and consider context and how it shapes approaches.

This resource site will contain all you need to support you during the programme.

Nicola Bradfield

Pro Vice Chancellor, Knowledge Exchange and Innovation, Kingston University

Nicola Bradfield leads four key professional service areas at the Coventry University Group – Legal Services; Risk, Organisational Assurance and Resilience; Records and Information Governance
and the Group Resolution Unit (student disciplinaries, complaints and appeals). She is also the Group’s Data Protection Officer.
 
Before joining Coventry, Nicola spent 15 years at Pinsent Masons LLP specialising in Higher Education and headed up the contentious universities team. She has advised many different providers across a range of issues including dealing, in particular, with complex and high value matters that were reputationally threatening.

Laura Caulfield

Pro Vice Chancellor, Knowledge Exchange and Innovation, Kingston University

Laura Caulfield is an experienced and skilled research leader, having held Director of Research roles since 2012. Laura has spent the past 20 years specialising in investigating the impact of complex social programmes.
 
In 2017 Laura launched the Institute for Community Research and Development (ICRD) at the University of Wolverhampton. ICRD is an interdisciplinary research institute and we work with communities, practitioners, and policy makers to use research and evidence to improve people’s lives. She also lead strategic research-related projects for the university including in 2024/25 a large project to apply for the HR Excellence in Research award.
 
Much of Laura’s work involves the evaluation of programmes in and around the criminal justice system, using qualitative and quantitative methods. She has led over 45 externally funded projects and received funding from the Home Office, Economic and Social Research Council, the National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance, the NHS, and several third-sector organisations. Between 2020 and 2025 Laura lead the evaluation of the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership.

Martin Davies

Pro Vice Chancellor, Knowledge Exchange and Innovation, Kingston University

Dr Martin Davies is Pro Vice-Chancellor for Knowledge Exchange and Innovation at Kingston University, responsible for institutional KE strategy, business and regional engagement, and Degree Apprenticeships. He has more than 30 year’s experience working in research and academic roles, university knowledge exchange, business development, innovation support and economic development in London, and has held senior roles in a range of institutions including the University of Greenwich and UCL.. He is a past Chair of PraxisAuril and has founded spin-out companies in the biomedical sector.

Orla Kelly

Knowledge Exchange and Innovation Collaboration Manager, University of the West of Scotland

Orla Kelly’s role is Knowledge Exchange & Innovation Collaboration Manager, a strategic role that spans all 19 Higher Education Institutions in Scotland. Orla works closely with senior colleagues in our HEIs with responsibilities for enterprise, commercialisation, and innovation, and has active relationships with various funders and policy makers in Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Previous to this role:
– Orla held Technology Transfer and Business Development roles at the University of Dundee (2015 – 2020)
– She was an R&D Engineer in a high value manufacturing SME in Sussex (2011 – 2015), which included a 2-year KTP with University of Bristol, to design, commission, and launch the first commercial Velocity Map Imaging spectrometer for physical chemistry and laser physics applications.
– She has a PhD in experimental physics from Queen’s University Belfast (2008 – 2012)

Matthew Lowe

Executive Officer to the Vice-Chancellor and Head of the Executive Office, Harper Adams University

Matthew is the Executive Officer and Head of the Executive Office at Harper Adams University. He is an experienced communications and public affairs professional with over 7 years’ experience across the business and political landscape in the Midlands and nationally across the United Kingdom.
Matthew graduated with a BSc (Hons) Geography from Staffordshire University, a PGCE in Secondary Education from Manchester Metropolitan University and a Specialist Diploma in Public Affairs from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. He started his career in education and is a qualified teacher specialising in the humanities subjects and natural environment. Moving to the private sector he joined the British Chambers of Commerce network leading on policy and public affairs, first in Staffordshire and then in the Black Country.
 
In 2018 he was awarded a Fellowship of the British Chambers of Commerce for transport policy, representing the Chamber network on issues relating to national transport infrastructure. In 2020 Matthew joined the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) working across a variety of policy and business development roles. During his time at the CBI he was the organisational lead on Midlands policy, the levelling up agenda and freeports, as well as a Co-Lead of the LGBT+ Allies Network and national lead on Future Leaders Networks.
 
In 2023 Matthew re-joined the Chamber of Commerce network, joining Shropshire Chamber as Director of Business leading on operations, policy, business support and organisational strategy.

Greg Miller

Deputy director of student opportunity, university of leeds

Greg Miller is Deputy Director at the University of Leeds. His portfolio covers Student Careers, Global Opportunities, Student Enterprise and the University Welcome programme. With over 22 years in higher education he has worked in outreach, community relations, regional partnerships and international development. Prior to higher education Greg created the first research company to investigate the use of purified landfill gas to run vehicles.
