Key findings include:
- Growing Enterprise Activity: More than 80% of survey respondents have observed an increase in enterprise activity over the past three years, with social enterprise also continuing its upward trend. Nearly 90% of universities are planning to further expand these activities in the coming year.
- Enhanced Student Support: There’s a notable rise in support for students, with institutions more than doubling their provision of enterprise summer schools compared to pre-COVID levels. Additionally, 73% of universities report an increase in student interest in enterprise upon arrival at university.
- Integration into curricula: For the first time, all universities have incorporated entrepreneurship into some of their degree programmes, though there is still room for growth in medicine, healthcare, and veterinary courses.
- Challenges in Outreach and Funding: Support for enterprise in local schools has significantly decreased over the past decade, and community engagement support has also diminished. Funding remains a major challenge, with an increased dependence on core university funds amid the decrease in European funding.

"Our survey has been running for over 10 years, and it has helped us to see the trends and development of enterprise activity over that time. For the first time our survey shows that all universities have enterprise and entrepreneurship embedded within some of their degree programmes. We believe exposing all students to enterprise and entrepreneurship makes them more agile, creative and innovative – essential skills for the future."
