Enhance Your Change Management Skills: Become An Entrepreneurial Head

As we contemplate a new and changed era for higher education, NCEE’s portfolio of entrepreneurial leadership programmes has become even more relevant and meaningful in terms of preparing current and future leaders in the tertiary education sector.

Being a good leader is not easy- there are always challenges. Being the head of an academic school or department or head of a professional service in a university is a tough job at the best of times, but even more so during this current pandemic crisis. Higher levels of anxiety and uncertainty about financial sustainability and performance, triggered by issues such as lower recruitment and retention of students, creating Covid 19 -safe campuses, along with caring for students and staff has place additional demands on Heads. The need to have creative, responsive, leaders who can innovate and lead change at all levels in a university has never been more important and is the key to future success and sustainability.

How can entrepreneurial leadership help?

Entrepreneurial leadership is an approach to leadership that embraces the need for passion, vision, focus and the ability to inspire others, along with the mindset and abilities to develop new ideas, explore new opportunities, face challenges and crises and influence others to foster innovation and change. Entrepreneurial leadership skills can help you to solve problems creatively, use resources effectively and help you deal with challenges and crises thrown up by the turbulent external environment. The ability to innovate and lead change is highly relevant to leaders at all levels in higher education. Plenty of evidence exists from those who have participated in these courses that this type of leadership development really does make a difference.

Entrepreneurial leadership is sometimes defined as getting things done without the necessary or obvious means to do so. It is particularly appropriate when resources are tight and change is required quickly. If you are thinking of leadership development then look no further…

Entrepreneurial Heads is now available online and gives Heads of Schools and Services the skills and tools needed to stay ahead, feel more confident and respond positively to the challenges they are currently facing in the rapidly changing world of higher education. This highly interactive online programme provides foundations in entrepreneurial leadership and change management, including how to put them into practice.

The Entrepreneurial Heads programme offers excellent value for money at only £785, with high class speakers and plenty of discussion time spread over three sessions (scheduled between 10.00hrs – 15.00hrs). The next programme commences in November 2021.

The programme is specifically designed for heads of school or academic departments; heads or directors of professional services; deputy or assistant directors of professional services and others in leadership roles in universities. It is suitable for recently appointed heads, as well as staff members who are experienced and seeking further relevant high-quality leadership development. The on-line version may also be of interest to those living and working outside the UK.

Having good leaders at all levels in an organisation has never been more important and is the key to ongoing success. Such leaders need effective leadership development to enhance their skills and abilities to lead effectively and to respond to and initiate change.
