Dr Hany Wells is the Academic Dean at Coventry University London. Hany is an academic leader with 25 years of experience in a variety of senior leadership positions in Higher Education. Hany’s professional accomplishments demonstrate her passion for, and achievements in driving innovation and continuous improvement for delivering an outstanding student and staff experience through developing sector-leading practices.
Hany has successfully improved academic quality, staff engagement and student experience in different large and complex HE institutions. In July 2021, she was awarded Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. Hany has been continuously rethinking how to engage with learners and stakeholders through implementing inclusive and safe culture to inspire and support staff. She is a member of the Senior Executive Team at CULC and Chair of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Council and Education Committee.
Hany completed her PhD in Project Management in 2010, at The Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management, University College London and has worked with organisations such as Reuters Thomson, Logica CMG, PA Consultancy, PM Group, BT, Fujitsu, APM and OGC (Office of Government Commerce). She has worked as an External Examiner at several HE institutes including Saiid Business School, Oxford University for their executive Masters on Managing Programmes and Projects.
Prior to joining Coventry University London, Hany was the Associate Dean Postgraduate Development and Head of the Management, Leadership and Organisation Department at Hertfordshire Business School (HBS). Under her leadership and ambition for innovative curriculum and pedagogy, she changed the landscape of postgraduate study at HBS, by enhancing the overall quality, recruitment, and structure of the postgraduate portfolio.
She has published papers and book chapters and presented at high-ranking journals and conferences, in the areas of innovations in teaching, learning and assessment, project: complexity methodologies, success and failure and has delivered several workshops and keynote presentations at different events.
Hany’s approach has been continuously rethinking of how to deliver and how to engage with learners. Hany is passionate about providing exciting, inclusive, and impactful learning opportunities where students are transformed into global, agile, enterprising, and employable individuals. She has dedicated her professional life to ensuring that the fast-changing needs of learners are supported through effective pedagogies that involve active learning, complemented by technology and real-world practice.
