Barbara Blaney is the Interim Staff Enterprise Manager at Edinburgh Innovations, the commercialisation arm of the University of Edinburgh.
The Staff Enterprise team help and support researchers commercialise their innovations through spinout companies; that support includes identifying and applying for funding such as ICURe and the Scottish Enterprise High Growth Spinout Programme. Recent successes include Wobble Genomics, Prothea Technologies and the social enterprise company EPIC Ltd.
Barbara has extensive experience ranging from advising SME’s on business strategy and partnering to working for major multinationals like J&J, Boehringer and BASF which is used to support entrepreneurial researchers achieve their commercialisation ambitions.
