Created on July 16, 2004 (Decree No. 2012 of 02 September 2004), the University of Gafsa (UGAF) is a public institution of an administrative nature, with legal personality and financial autonomy.

The University of Gafsa geographically covers two governorates, namely Gafsa and Tozeur, and it is distinguished by its intellectual heritage, quality teaching covering most of the fields of engineering science, languages and techniques as well as quality research. The University of Gafsa offers training courses organised according to the principle of the LMD system.
