Why Female Entrepreneurship?
Despite significant progress, women entrepreneurs continue to face systemic barriers, including access to finance, networks, markets and visibility. These challenges vary across regions and cultures, while persistent assumptions about women and entrepreneurship can also shape entrepreneurial confidence, opportunities and pathways.
Addressing these barriers requires greater understanding of what works, stronger connections across research, policy and practice, and more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystems.
The Female Entrepreneurship Global Interest Group brings together people working across research, policy, education and practice to share evidence and insight, highlight effective initiatives and policy, and foster international dialogue and collaboration.
About the Female Entrepreneurship Group
The group provides a trusted space for members to exchange research, data, evaluations and practical experience; learn from what is – and isn’t – working; and connect activity across universities, disciplines, sectors and regions. It also creates opportunities for peer learning and support, enabling members to exchange experiences, build confidence and develop connections with others working in this space.
By bringing together expertise and activity that can often be fragmented, the network aims to improve the visibility of work in female entrepreneurship and provide a central point of reference for the wider community.
Who is this group for?
The Female Entrepreneurship Group is open to policymakers and public sector leaders, educators and academic researchers, ecosystem builders and intermediaries, entrepreneurs and founders, and organisations supporting women-led businesses.
Participation is flexible. Members can engage by sharing research and resources, joining discussions, contributing their expertise and experience, highlighting relevant initiatives or opportunities, or collaborating on future projects. The group is designed to enable different levels of involvement while creating a central point of connection for those interested in advancing female entrepreneurship.
