Dr Remy Twiringiyimana

Associate

Remy completed his PhD in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Public Policy (STEaPP) at University College London (UCL), specialising in innovation ecosystems and public policy. His thesis explored how entrepreneurial universities interact with other actors to support the growth of knowledge-based innovation ecosystems. He is currently working as a Research Fellow in Innovation Ecosystems and Inclusive Policy at UCL. He brings over a decade of experience in academic research, policy governance and engagement, and international collaboration across Africa and the UK. He is deeply committed to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research in qualitative systems thinking, system strengthening, and knowledge co-creation. In addition to technical expertise in qualitative research, Remy is skilled in multistakeholder coordination and engagement, and inclusive programme delivery, with a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and policy impact.

He studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, graduating in 2009. Prior to starting his PhD, he served for five years as Advisor to the Minister of Education in the Government of Rwanda. Before that, he worked for five years in the same ministry as Director of Research and Development. Prior to joining the Ministry of Education in 2010, Remy worked as an Assistant Lecturer in Electronics and Telecommunications at the University of Rwanda (formerly Kigali Institute of Science and Technology).
