Sarah has over 20 years’ experience of working in the Higher Education sector where she has worked at school/faculty level and also in the central professional services. Sarah has held leadership roles at a range of HE institutions and across multiple academic disciplines. A leader of multi-disciplinary empowered, proactive teams with a strong track record of effective implementation of vision and strategy, delivering quality service for students and staff and leading large scale transformational change.
Sarah was appointed to the role of Head of School Operations (Engineering) in 2019 with responsibility for overall leadership, management and direction of the professional services across the School. The School is one of the largest in the University with c. 7000 students, c. 300 professional services staff and c. 900 academic and research staff and £153m turnover.
As a member of the Faculty Professional Services Leadership team, Sarah works collaboratively with colleagues at all levels to drive strategic objectives and manage and deliver quality services for students and staff with a focus on delivering an outstanding student experience. A key part of the role is working in partnership with the Vice-Dean and Head of School to develop and deliver the School strategy and ensure that academic and professional services priorities are aligned.
Sarah has led a number of University level projects, including an AI Group focussed on the potential of AI-driven transformation, is the Faculty’s representative on a number of governance boards and is the Chair of the University’s Student Experience Workforce Planning Group.
